My Dear Deauville

Deauville is one of the many exquisitely beautiful pearls on the coast of Normandy. In an area as abundantly rich with beauty as this, it can sometimes be difficult to even distinguish one beautiful town from another. You sort of become blind to the beauty, because you simply can’t process the excess of it.

Deauville manages to break apart from its neighbors with an especially luxurious milieu. The town is probably best known as the home of the Deauville American Film Festival, which has been home to many classic movies during its decades-long history.

The glamour doesn’t end there, though. The town has been a popular seaside resort for the upper classes since the 1800s, with its grand casino, golf courses, horse races and belle epoque villas still luring people in.

Signs of Hollywood’s strong influence on Deauville can even be seen on the beautiful beach promenade

Deauville is also home to a slew of chic boutiques and elegant restaurants and cafés, but somehow the general atmosphere all around town is simultaneously very friendly and laid-back. It’s the perfect combination of la haute vie and relaxed rural life.
