Finland is called ‘the land of a thousand lakes’, which sounds like an exaggeration but is actually a severe understatement, since there are more than 188 000 lakes dotting the entirety of the small country.
The biggest of those lakes is Lake Saimaa, located in Southeastern Finland.
It’s one of the best places to see the unique greens and blues of the Finnish countryside. The colors of summer. You can go swimming or rowing in the lake, before heading to the surrounding forests for some hiking… or maybe even find some wild berries, which are plentiful in all of Finland!
