One of my favorite things about New York City is the fact that there seems to be an infinite amount of unique neighborhoods, all with their own distinct personalities. Among them, the Lower East Side.
The Lower East Side or LES has a somewhat gritty look that lends it authenticity. It feels like how I would imagine New York City was in the 80s. It’s what the city looked like in all the movies I watched as a kid.
The neighborhood is full of fun cafés, bars and restaurants. You can find anything from a 24 hour Ukrainian restaurant and Jewish knish bakeries to small sushi joints and South American eateries, all in the same block. And if you’re not hungry, just sit down at an outdoor café and watch people go by. That’s how I met Alden Ehrenreich while chowing down on a donut!
