Isola di Favignana is like one of those native tribes in the jungles of the Amazon, so far removed from anything else that they’ve maintained their own unique civilization. In reality the Italian island is only a few hours away by ferry from the Sicilian port town of Trapani, but somehow it feels completely different than anything on the so-called main island, which in turn is completely different from the mainland.
A country within a country within a country.
The sleepy island has its own rhythm, a decidedly slow one
There’s not much on the island in the form of activities, but if you’re looking for an authentic laid-back experience and some beautiful natural sights, you’ll be richly rewarded on Favignana!
There are a few beautiful beaches on Favignana, too – some crowded…
…and others basically deserted!
