Toronto’s Distillery District is a glorious remnant of days gone by, a window to a time when horse carriages trampled the cobblestone streets surrounding the old breweries and gin distilleries. Walking the streets of this historic district is like stepping into a time machine. But it wasn’t always like this.
The area was under serious disrepair, abandoned and forgotten for decades, until finally it was lovingly restored, renovated and given a rebirth as a beloved art, culture and entertainment collective. It’s defnitely one of the brightest spots in the entire city, and a living reminder that sometimes it’s important to restore something old rather than bulldoze and build something new.
