The French Riviera is full of undiscovered treasures, from lively larger cities to dormant little fishing villages. Most visitors only spend time in the world-famous cities such as Nice, Cannes or Antibes, but the region still has so much more to offer. And you don’t need your own yacht or even a car to reach most of these places – the train connections on the south coast of France are excellent.
Villefranche-sur-mer is one of my favorite spots on the French Riviera. This atmospheric and calm small town is located just a stone’s throw away from Nice but it feels like a completely different world. Beautiful ocean views, lush hills, colorful old buildings and a laid-back lifestyle paint a picture of the quintessential Riviera.
The excellent fresh seafood is reason enough to visit Villefranche-sur-mer
