Nice is nestled in one of the prettiest coves on the Côte d’Azur or the Azure Coast, legendary for its clear turquoise waters and white beaches, palm tree lined boulevards and art deco architecture. The capital of the French Riviera is equal parts grit and glitter, offering visitors an alluring combo of a laid back beach resort and a vibrant big city atmosphere.

Turquoise Like You’ve Never Seen It
It’s hard to believe before you see it with your own eyes. The ocean is a ridiculously bright shade of turquoise in Nice, unlike anywhere else in the world. The white pebbly beach makes the water look especially clear and even somewhat iridescent in the (b)right light.
From the Beach to the Old Town
The atmospheric old town in Nice is unique in its scope and sentiment, definitely worth a visit. Stroll around the narrow streets, sit down for a Salade Niçoise and a glass of rosé or go shopping for aromatic soaps or antiques. If you think it sounds somewhat uneventful, you’re right. It’s delightfully calming.
Cannes may have more movie stars, Monaco more royals and St. Tropez more champagne-soaked pool parties, but Nice is pure of heart. It’s like that well-meaning aunt we all have. She may not always say the right things, but at least she tries.
